Let me tell you a secret... The Duchess of Cambridge revealed the name of her dog to students at Rose Hill Primary School during a visit to Oxford today

It's been a more closely guarded secret than the crown jewels.
But finally the Duchess of Cambridge let slip the name of her new cocker spaniel puppy today - Lupo. The name is Italian for wolf.
Kate finally revealed the name of the black pup three weeks after royal aides refused to confirm it claiming it was an invasion of their privacy.
The Duchess of Cambridge told a group of children the closely guarded secret moniker of her cocker spaniel during a visit to their primary school.
She was in Oxford to help promote one of the charities she has become a patron of, The Art Room, which encourages confidence in disadvantaged children.

Media savvy: Lupo already has his own Twitter account ¿ @HRH_Lupo

Rose Hill Primary School teacher Lisa Hancock, 37, said the duchess told her class of children the name when she was given a cuddly toy dog.
'The duchess said she wanted to name it after her dog at home... I think it was called Lupin or something,' she said.
Ms Hancock, manager of the school's art room, said the children had picked out a toy dog for the duchess before she arrived.

She added: 'The children had chosen a dog for her to cuddle during the lesson. She said "what's it called?" and we said "would you like to give it a name?" and she said "I will call it after my dog".'
Royal officials then confirmed the name was Lupo.
'There is no significance in it apart from they liked the name,' an aide said.
By yesterday evening Lupo already had his own Twitter account – @HRH_Lupo ‘Prince among royal pooches. Pet of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Snapping at Nicholas Witchell’s [BBC Royal Correspondent] heels.’

Prince William’s black Labrador, Widgeon, died about two years ago (left) but he and wife Kate now have a male cocker spaniel, similar to the one above

The puppy has been keeping Kate, 30, company while her husband William, 29, has been working as an RAF Search and Rescue co-pilot in the Falkland Islands. The dog is believed to be around four months old.
The dog's father is reportedly a pet owned by Kate's mother Carole Middleton.
It is thought the duke and duchess's dog lives with them at their north Wales home near an RAF base in Anglesey where William is normally based.
